Hello Silver Friends,
My mission at QuickSilverHair is to find the best products for silver hair, whether you have straight or curly hair, I want you to have the healthiest hair possible. I love the science behind hair and hair products, which is my ‘mane’ focus here. I get to look at and try a boatload of products. Sometimes, those products were created by women like me. Women who wanted something better from the hair industry but couldn’t seem to find it. Another thing we usually hold in common is our desire for clean, cruelty-free, and earth friendly ingredients.
I have wanted for a long time to shine a spotlight on woman-owned brands. Thank you for checking this post out and you might want sign up for my emails, if you haven’t already, because that is where I will announce new finds. You can find a sign up form at the bottom of any page on my website.
I believe in supporting women. My own mother is a small business owner; when I was a teen, it was just the two of us and she kept us going on her own. For this reason and many more, I will always hold a special and celebratory space for women who say, “Hey, I’ve got an idea…” and then they act on it. It takes a special kind of gumption and drive to keep going when you own your own small business. Hooray, for those who keep bringing us amazing things that make our lives better, cleaner, and easier.
Please email me if you know of a clean, natural, woman-owned brand you think I need to know about.
Thank you, as always, for supporting me and my endeavors, and thank you for supporting the businesses I feature here, as well.

Yazemeenah Rossi – Social Advocate • Entrepreneur • Artist • Model • Photographer
Yazemeenah is in my next Woman Owned Spotlight, she doesn’t have a haircare line, but she has been a Silver Hair inspiration to many of us in this community. I wanted to share a little about her as a woman, artist, her entrepreneurial endeavors and social advocacy.
Yazemeenah’s beautiful soul shines so brightly it is no wonder she became an accidental super model. Her iconic long (never-dyed) silver hair is how most of us around the world know her. I know her from before I began growing out my silver hair. She was in my hair inspiration board on Pinterest. Then I found this photo of her, and it set it into my heart that I would embrace my natural color. When I tagged her in the photo on Facebook, I never imagined we would actually become friends. You can learn all about that in the little chat we did on IG if you haven’t already seen it, you can find it here on YouTube: Our Discussion

As an artist, what inspires Yazemeenah most is raw nature itself. The organic composition of everything we see in the world, from the richness of a leaf of basil, to drops of saltwater glistening on seaweed, and the texture of softly woven fibers.
She creates a world where all your senses can come alive. If you follow her account on Instagram you will experience her beautiful photography and videography. She gives you this glimpse into her simple and natural lifestyle. She includes her divine local and organic cooking, yoga and exercise practices with you, and of course her creative projects.

When she started producing her gorgeous cashmere shawls, she saw a need while visiting the factories in Nepal. The orphaned children of Nepal need all the support they can get to survive and make it in a world fraught with political upheaval, hunger, poverty, and major climate disasters. She gives a portion of the proceeds of all of her shawl sells and now her jewelry and perfume to the Destitute and Orphan Children Safeguarding Foundation. She is passionate about giving to these children and even when the pandemic shut the world down she continued to make sure they were getting what they needed.

Her jewelry is a story of seeing beauty where some would not, taking ordinary things like a goat horn, which became her beautiful Primordial Bracelet. Or the natural shape of shells and rocks made into beads for her long statement necklaces that she hand makes.
Now she has inspired a scent by Italian perfumer Marie Candida Gentile, they share a kismet experience of the pure scent of Corsica. You know that smell of home that you wish you could capture in a bottle, this is the smell of Yazemeenah’s beloved Corsican home…salt and citrus, floral and incense. It is feminine, yet earthy and masculine, it lingers in a rich yet subtle way, fading with the day just as the natural scents of earth do as the sun sets each day.

A Simple Planet – April Smith
I want to share a product line that I have known about for some time. I did share them in my Fragrance-Free Haircare List but I want to highlight this wonderful company so you can learn more about it.
This brand is handmade by April Smith. She created these products to be Earth and human friendly. All the containers are made of aluminum and are all refillable, which she makes refill pouches for you to reorder. Not just that, but the refill pouches can also be returned and refilled.
The goal is fewer plastics…check.
Organic, plant based, good-for-you ingredients…check.
Low allergens…check.
Unscented options…check.
Allergies suck, and April wanted to make sure those of us with sensitivities could have great haircare too.
We both started our businesses in 2017 and I feel a deep simpatico with April, as I have striven to achieve some of the same things in my haircare line. I have followed April’s journey the entire time and I applaud her for all the amazing thought and Earth loving principles that make her business extremely unique.
All of the products, are the natural color of their ingredients and April suggests all Silver Sisters only purchase the Lavender scent or unscented because the orange has an orange tint to it from the natural oils.
I recommend starting out with the Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In and Defined Hair Gel toss in the Sea Salt Spray if you like a little texture.

Miribel Naturals – Jackie Serchuk
The next woman owned and created product line I want to share with you is Miribel Naturals formally known as My Soigne (I’ll get to that in a second).
Jackie is the sweetest woman with the grooviest heart and HAIR. Back in 2018, she set out to create a line of products just like I did…out of the need to have something that worked for her hair. It was originally two cream products for cleansing and conditioning, and then she added a curly girl fan favorite ̶ flaxseed gel.
The Creamy Hair Cleanser, Dreamy Hair Cream, and Silky Smooth Flaxseed Gel were fast becoming curly girl favorites around the world. She was providing something for curlies everywhere that was made with simple, clean, and cruelty free ingredients. Then in 2019, she had a little baby girl named Miribel. Like most curly girls, Jackie’s hair changed while she was pregnant, and Miribel didn’t have curly hair. Jackie realized that if her child was raised listening to her mom celebrate and only talk about curly hair every day in every way her baby might feel left out (much like us curly girls have felt for decades). Jackie recognized her products needed to celebrate and work for all hair types. Yeah, Jackie!
So, in honor of her beautiful little Miribel, she changed the name of her company in 2021 to Miribel Naturals. I even told Jackie, she wins the award for best rebranding reason ever. She also rebranded with a groovy new look and products in tubes, which make getting your product out super easy.
The 70’s have called and Jackie answered with a fantastic line of natural, simple, clean products for ALL hair types. Jackie wanted to emulate the freedom of the 70’s with that Peace, Love, and Good Vibes feeling for your every washday.
Is a turmeric yellow color from the turmeric for scalp health, it also contains jojoba beads for scrubbing. I’ll be the first to tell you my scalp doesn’t like cowashing but this cleanser will blow you away if you love co-washing and might make you a convert if you never have liked co-washing.
(Jackie says the turmeric color shouldn’t scare you if you have silver hair.)
The conditioner is dreamy all right, it is packed with moisture so if your hair gets dry easily…I’m talking to you silvers with coarse hair especially…you are going to love all this moisture.
If you love a good flaxseed gel, this will do the trick for you. It makes your hair silky, as promised.
If you need to control how much protein you need, this is for you. You can get that boost of strength and structure with the Powerhouse Protein Cream. I don’t need much protein so I haven’t tried it but if you do please send me a note and let me know what you think about it.
In addition, she has some new products coming out, which I am super excited to try out because she’s making these fragrance-free!!!!! You know how happy that makes me.
My results with this line up were very soft and silky hair. Very moisturized, with a little bit of a 70’s beachy wave. I shared my products with another long-haired silver sister who has coarser hair, and she loved the products even more than I did.
If you have coarse, dense, and any texture from straight to kinky-coily hair these products might be your go-to line-up. If you have fine waves and want them super moisturized, you gotta try Miribel Narturals.
