QuickSilverHair Squalane Oil Instructions:
- Use 1-2 pumps to smooth & seal dry or frizzy hair. Use in place of your favorite silicone based serum.
- Use as a facial oil to moisturize & soothe dry skin. Use on clean skin.
- Use 3-4 pumps with QuickSilverHair Clay to make the clarifying mask.
Remember a little goes a long way; it will be greasy if you use an excessive amount.
Clear, lightweight, and clean oil.
What is squalane?
Squalane is a clear, lightweight oil closely related to squalene, a lipid your skin makes naturally and a component of human sebum. Squalene breaks down quickly when it meets air, so cosmetic squalane is the stable, hydrogenated form. Mine is derived from olives.
Why I chose squalane for silver hair
I wanted an oil that wouldn’t stain white and gray hair, and squalane is clear. It sinks in without a heavy film, so I use it in place of silicone-based serums to smooth flyaways and frizz. It softens hair, helps reduce breakage from brushing and styling, and replenishes moisture. It’s also a much lighter alternative to coconut oil, and it mixes well with QuickSilverHair Clay for the clarifying mask. Learn more: Everything You Need to Know About Squalane Oil
Questions About Squalane Oil
Will squalane stain my silver or white hair?
No. Squalane is clear and colorless, so it won’t add color to silver, white, or gray hair. Use a small amount, because too much may feel greasy.
Does squalane come from sharks?
Squalene has historically been taken from shark liver, and some products still use it. QuickSilverHair Squalane is derived from olives, and my products are cruelty free.
What is the difference between squalene and squalane?
Squalene is the lipid found in your skin’s sebum and in many plants and animals. It oxidizes easily. Squalane is the stable, hydrogenated version used in cosmetics. Either one can come from plant or animal sources, which is why the source matters.
Is squalane safe for skin and hair?
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel, an independent group of scientists, concluded that squalane and squalene are safe as cosmetic ingredients as currently used. As with any new product, test a small patch of skin for 24 hours first.
What is the difference between Squalane Oil and Scalp Oil?
Scalp Oil is my squalane oil with rosemary oil added, made for scalp massage. Squalane Oil is the everyday version for hair and face (you can still use it for scalp massage if you don’t want the added rosemary oil).
